Snippet Starter Packs: Ready-to-Use Snippets by Role

The hardest part of using a text expander is not installing it. It is the blank library on day one, when you cannot remember which of your messages actually repeat.

Below are starter packs by role. Take the ten or so that match your work, adapt the wording, and add to them as you notice yourself retyping things.

First, the naming convention

This matters more than the snippets themselves. A library of 15 snippets works with any naming scheme. A library of 80 only works if the names are predictable.

Use prefix grouping: a short category prefix, then a specific term.

  • /int-cold, /int-warm, /int-referral — introductions
  • /fu-1, /fu-2, /fu-final — follow-ups
  • /ans-pricing, /ans-security, /ans-timeline — standard answers

The advantage is that you only need to remember the prefix. Type /fu- and the follow-ups appear together, so you pick rather than recall. Three rules:

  1. Never number without meaning. /reply7 is unfindable in a month.
  2. Keep prefixes to 2–4 characters. Longer and you stop using them.
  3. Use one separator consistently. Mixing - and _ doubles your failure rate.

Sales pack (15 snippets)

Outreach: /int-cold first-touch intro · /int-referral referred intro · /int-event met-at-event intro · /int-inbound inbound lead reply

Follow-up: /fu-1 gentle nudge · /fu-2 value-add follow-up · /fu-final breakup message · /fu-noshow missed-call follow-up

Answers: /ans-pricing pricing overview · /ans-competitor competitor comparison · /ans-timeline implementation timeline · /ans-security security and data handling

Closing: /cl-proposal proposal cover note · /cl-contract contract sending note · /cl-won welcome and next steps

Customer support pack (15 snippets)

Acknowledge: /ack first reply · /ack-bug confirmed bug · /ack-delay still working on it

Gather info: /req-screenshot · /req-browser · /req-steps reproduction steps

Resolve: /fix-done fixed and confirm · /fix-workaround temporary workaround · /fix-known known issue on roadmap

Billing: /bill-refund · /bill-cancel · /bill-charge charge explanation

Close: /cl-resolved · /cl-review review request · /esc-team escalation note

The wording for all of these is in our 40 canned responses post. Pairs with canned responses for customer support.

Recruiting pack (12 snippets)

Sourcing: /src-cold cold outreach · /src-inmail LinkedIn note · /src-referral referral ask

Screening: /scr-invite screening call invite · /scr-reschedule · /scr-brief role brief

Process: /proc-next next steps · /proc-delay hiring delay update · /proc-task take-home instructions

Outcomes: /out-offer · /out-reject-early · /out-reject-final post-interview rejection with feedback

Rejections are worth writing carefully once and reusing, because they are the messages most often rushed. See snippet tool for recruiters.

Freelance and consulting pack (12 snippets)

Enquiries: /enq-reply initial reply · /enq-rates rate card · /enq-availability current availability

Scoping: /scope-questions discovery questions · /scope-proposal proposal note · /scope-outofscope polite scope pushback

Project: /prj-kickoff · /prj-update weekly update · /prj-feedback feedback request

Money: /inv-send invoice note · /inv-remind payment reminder · /inv-late overdue follow-up

The payment reminders are the ones freelancers most avoid writing. Saving them once removes the friction from chasing.

Everyday pack (8 snippets)

Useful whatever your role: /sig email signature · /cal calendar link · /addr address or billing details · /thanks thank-you note · /ooo out-of-office · /intro2 double opt-in introduction · /nope polite decline · /eta "I will get back to you by [time]"

/sig and /cal alone usually justify installing anything.

How to build the habit

Do not try to build the whole library at once — you will guess wrong about what repeats. Instead:

  1. Week one: add the everyday pack. Eight snippets, immediate payoff.
  2. Weeks two to four: every time you catch yourself retyping something, stop and save it. Do not curate, just capture.
  3. Month two: review. Delete what you never used, merge near-duplicates, rename anything you had to search for.

That third step is the one people skip, and it is the one that keeps a library usable past 50 snippets.

Getting them in

You can add these manually as you go, which is what most people do and what we would suggest for the first twenty. QuickFiller also supports importing snippets in bulk if you already have a list somewhere — useful if you are migrating from another tool or from a shared document.

If you want the wording rather than just the shortcut names, the canned responses and WhatsApp templates posts have full text you can lift. And if you want to polish a snippet's tone before saving it, the AI snippet rewriter does that in place.
